As we all know, Molokai is the Big Kahuna of surfski races; the 32mile/51km crossing of the Kaiwi Channel between Molokai and Oahu Islands in Hawaii is a daunting challenge (whatever the weather!). The race is back for 2014, but it's now back under the management of the Kanaka Ikaika Racing Association (KIRA). Here's the preliminary announcement from KIRA's Jim Foti.

When some of the best surfski paddlers in the world gathered in Cape Town, South Africa for the inaugural Cape Town Downwind Race, Greg Kitto of White Hot Media was on hand to record the action.
Fish Hoek – Paddling superstar Hank McGregor overcame a world class field to successfully defend his South African S1 Surfski Championships title in the Cape Town Downwind on Sunday whilst locally based Dawid Mocke cemented his position at the top of the Oceanpaddler World Surfski Series standings.
Dawid Mocke extended his lead in the Oceanpadder World Rankings last weekend, coming fifth in the Steelcase Dragon Run. His lead is now almost unassailable with one race to go.

Two more races down - the Nelo Summer Challenge and the Maar'amu Surfski Race in Tahiti... Jasper Mocke beat his brother to take the Nelo race and to move into second position on the Oceanpaddler World Rankings.
The video feed was just clear enough that we could make out two white-clad figures paddling two white boats - the Mocke brothers, hammering it out in front of the 138-strong fleet of surfskis...
