Hank McGregor wins the inaugural Cape Town Downwind Race
When some of the best surfski paddlers in the world gathered in Cape Town, South Africa for the inaugural Cape Town Downwind Race, Greg Kitto of White Hot Media was on hand to record the action.
Race Day
Conditions on race day weren't the best - we'd had pumping southeasters for two weeks before the race... but the light breeze did kick up some movement in the water, and provided you took a deep line offshore, there were runs to be had. (I had a miserable race, taking in inshore line in a desperate risk to make up ground on my markers. It didn't work!)
Conditions next day for the doubles race were much closer to the "classic" Millers Run... but that'll hopefully feature in another Kitto special!
