Calling all paddlers...

The Friends of the Island Parks is launching a
kayak/canoe/paddleboard race off of Dunedin's beautiful state park
beaches. It is called the 4th annual Shark Bite Challenge, formerly
the Caladesi Kayak Challenge, and will be held on April 21st, 2007.
The event consists of a 4-mile recreational race and a 8-mile
competitive race off the coast of Honeymoon and Caladesi Island State
Parks, both of which are consistently ranked in the top ten most
beautiful beaches in the country. The race is the anchor
for "Celebrate Earth Day 2007 with Friends", a festival dedicated to
celebrating the islands through music, food, and environmental
education.

Best of all, you can race for a great cause! All proceeds from this
event go towards the environmental education center on Honeymoon
Island State Park, as well as other specific needs on both Caladesi
and Honeymoon Island State Parks. All racers will get a T-shirt, as
well as lunch, and a chance to win great prizes in our giveaway! The
festival is also raffling a kayak!

Registration is also available at www.active.com. Categories for
racers have been designated by boat style, boat length, gender and
age, including surfskis, kayaks, outrigger canoes, and paddleboards.
