Announcing 4th annual Galway Bay Sea kayak Race

Where: Galway Ocean Sports Club, Galway Harbour, Ireland
GBSKR is an annual Sea Race event offering top class racing for all abilities over 2km (novice), 8km (sea kayak) & 14km (Open ski class) distances.
This is the 4th year of the event and is extra special as it will take place on the busiest day of the Volvo Ocean Race festival...starting right after the last in-port race - the final Curtain Call of the Global Volvo Ocean race.
Tens of Thousands of spectators will be there to watch the sailboat fleet on their final journey back to Galway Docks marking the end of 10 months of racing around the Globe. How exciting then that the Ocean ski/kayak race will start from the harbour mouth amid the clamour.
Priority of the day for paddlers is to avoid being speared by 7 x 70ft ocean racers and dodge the mill of the massed spectator fleet. Even if its a calm day all the boat wash should liven things up.
No Flash prizes or anything but we can promise a good race, big crowd & great spectacle & good craic!
