2 Other options I have tried (as well as strapping tape) are self amalgamating tape (buy it at sailing shops (Whitworths))which I found to be quite sympathetic to my hands, but best of all I think surfing wax is the best solution. It tends to mold and gel around the shaft and its lack of abrasiveness stops blisters forming and breaking. Cheers
