Should I wet and dry sandpaper my rudder? was created by Love2ski
My rudder on my fenn has a matt finish, and is pretty rough. Should I wet and dry sand it to make it highly polished?

I used to be an obsessed J24 sailer and we always tried to make our keels and rudders as smooth as possible to maximise the flow and to minimise turbulence.

It seems to me that the rudder on a ski has a big impact on the glide of the boat.

Thoughts?

What is the surface for it to be matt and rough? Can't see why not, alternatively could varnish and polish it smooth?

A can of spray lacquer worked a treat on my cut down and sanded rudder. Lots of light coats.
Always looking for the next boat :)
