I wonder how you'd parameterise the ratings.
We could look at some other sports - rock climbing for instance.
Perhaps there should be several parameters: Difficulty, Fun, but there should be only a few! You want to indicate for example that the Millers Run is about as fun (5 star) as padding can get, but it's also a serious paddle from a safety point of view (5 star), especially if you haven't done it before.
