I'm looking for a training partner to paddle with and do final preparations for the upcoming Surfski series in Cape Town. I'm planning to do the long course races.
I currently maintain a race pace of around 9.8km/h but I'm hoping to push that up to at least 10km/h. I'm finding it hard to push my self as hard as I need to in training. Basically, I know what I need to be doing, but am finding it hard to put it into practice when training solo.
I work unusual hours and therefore I'm only available early in the mornings (06h00 to 07h30) or during the day (12h00 to 15h30). I generally paddle 4 times per week (weather permitting) and I try to maintain a good mix of steady state, LSD, time trials and interval training. I also cycle at least twice a week, covering around 30km per ride in around an hour and 20 minutes.
If you're in the same boat as me, so to speak, contact me and we can arrange a paddle. The sooner the better as the series is but 4 weeks away.
