I think I saw a picture of Marty Kenny in a Molokai update. The ski has been shaped off their current spec (lifesaving) ski. It has been lengthened i think to 20.5 feet, narrowed a little, a pointed tail and a lot of volume and water line has been added to the area in front of the paddler.
Actually the new Hayden ski was started from scratch as opposed to it's predecessors, which were lengthened spec skis. I checked out the ski and talked to Hayden and Marty on Molokai the day before the race. It looks like they have come up with a good one. It appears that quite a bit of thinking went into the design.
