Rudder cable replacement

Time to replace old stainless cables on my Mako. I always dread having to find proper fittings of appropriate alloy and trying to borrow swag tools and other hassles. This made me wonder if I could use Kevlar or spectra lines like on the newer boats. Does anyone know of any reason this would be a bad idea?

If you do decide to stay with stainless cables, then I suggest you simply use the identical clamp (the brass or even stainless clamp that is used near the pedals) on the BACK at the rudder pintel as well - this saves uses a swagging tool, and allows the EASY removal of the entire cable run by loosening just 8 screws!
