Hatch covers

I'm new to Epic boats, and I'm looking for the best way to store my boat between uses (I've a V6). Should the hatch covers be released so as to take the compression tension off the gaskets, or is it OK to just leave them locked down. I wouldn't want to be shipping water when off-shore due to a failed gasket.

I just learned from an Epic dealer that it is a good idea to loosen the hatch covers when not in use so as not to damage the gaskets from being under compression all the time.
