Epic Small Twist Paddle

I like the new epic smaller twist. I got it with the round shaft which does not have a smooth surface. I did not have any grip issues like I do with the paddle shafts that are smooth. The smaller paddle was evident and I was able to have a higher stroke rate. Paddle flows easily through the water and is more about an even pull vs just a frontend emphasized strong catch like other winged paddles. Thanks Greg Barton and team Epic

Glad you like your Epic twist paddle. I bought a mid-twist when they first dropped. It took a while to get used to it, but after 2 years it feels great. If I go back to my small mid wing it feels like it grabs the water differently. One thing I don't like is one of my blades on the mid twist is loose. Never had that on any Epic paddle before. Maybe because it was the first batch and they were rushed out.

I also have an original mid twist. After 2 years both blades were a bit loose on the shaft. They are held on with a very soft hot-melt glue. Using a heat gun it was easy to remove blades from shaft. I cleaned out all the old hot melt glue and then reassembled with a generous amount of new hot glue. The glue i used was the higher melt point stiffer hardware store sticks that goes into standard glue guns. The paddle is rock solid now.

Like you it took me most of a season to adjust to the midtwist. But now that I am used to it I really appreciate how gentle it is on my shoulders.

How hard was it to re glue your blade and what kind of glue did you use? Epic said they would fix it for free, I just have to pay shipping. I’m sure packing and shipping the paddle will be like $50. I don’t mind doing it myself if I’m not gonna ruin anything. I watched the Epic paddle repair video on YouTube several times and it seems pretty straightforward.

I did the same with a used epic mid twist. One of the blades was a little loose so I took it apart added some more hot glue and it’s fine now. I don’t remember which kind of glue I used.

I tried to find a video but could not locate one, so I just went ahead and did it anyway. It was very easy to do. I took my time with the heat gun so I didn’t scorch anything. The hot glue i used was whatever those foot long sticks are that they sell in a big bag at home depot.

Easy done in 5 minutes
Here is how its done
Dont worry about which glue but suggest you pick something from the building hardware store
Just use a heatgun to melt the gluestick if you dont have a good gluegun (Heatgun is also quicker)
