Unusual spray deflector setup...

See the attached image of Cory Hill at the ICF Ocean Racing World Champs in Hong Kong.

He has a spray deflector right at the end of the nose of his ski... I've never seen a spray deflector placed so far forward... Anyone tried this?

Rob, when I first saw this i thought it was a race sticker (number) that had peeled upwards throughout the duration of the race. Never thought of it as a deflector. Take another look???

I originally thought it was a wave deflector, then on closer look it appears to be a sticker that is peeling off. Just checked the video again and pretty certain it's a sticker

I usually freak out if there is a cm of peeled sticker spraying water. I become convinced it is ruining my race. I guess I should reassess that conclusion!
