Hi All,
Luanne and I are heading to New Zealand next month for a 6 week jaunt. Any info on renting a ski, places to paddle, etc would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
Cheers,
Ken

Where abouts in NZ are you going to be and what ski do you usually paddle (would like to rent)?

Anywhere on the East Coast is great. Avoid the West Coast unless you're a very competent paddler.
Paddling the lakes is awesome, especially Lake Tekapo which is like paddling in a crystal clear swimming pool.
Always check the weather before paddling, it can change very quickly.
If you paddle a Fenn I might be able to help with a ski.

Hi Guys,
I am an intermediate paddler. I come from a long sea kayaking background and made the leap to skis around 4 years ago. My first ski was a Stellar SEL, then a Swordfish, Epic
V10l and a Huki S1R. I have always built my own boats in the past and just completed my second ski. There are 2 links below if you are interested in my wooden skis.

Just completed the second one and have only paddled it for an hour or so.
Anyway, plan to have an old van a friend in Cooks Beach will lend us and we have no itinerary yet. Would hate to miss paddling for the 6 weeks we will be in NZ. Thanks for your input!

Very nice wooden skis Kenneee.

Oskar is your man for Fenn ski hire. I have a Stellar SEL Excel I could hire out if you want to go that way (if I don't sell it beforehand). I also have some racks that may fit your van if required.

Oskar and I are both in Auckland.

Your wood skis are badass. Beautiful too. What did you use for the bucket mold?

Again, badass ski. Wish I had a workshop and more time.

I see no option for Private messages on this site but you can contact Oskar through www.fennkayaks.co.nz/
You could contact me through a PM on Facebook initially and I could pass on my email and phone numbers to avoid spam bots. If you don't have Facebook Oskar should have my email.

Thanks! A friend pulled the shape off of a THINK ski. The bucket is very comfortable for me.
