What ski to buy? was created by Warey
I am looking at buying a surf ski, just not sure which brand? I have previously paddled K1 kayaks and do the majority of my paddling on flat water. I'm looking at doing longer marathon races like the Hawksbury. What sort of Ski would you recommend?
Thanks
Jason

I'm about 85kg. Is that ok for this ski?

I was 83kg when I bought mine (now down to 71kg) and it was fine, a bit advanced for me when I bought it but for mainly flat water and with a K1 background it would be good for you and I don't know if you would find anything faster. But you would need to check the fit first, mine is a narrow bucket early model, later ones came with a wider bucket but I guess it depends on how you are built, its always fitted me well.

I mainly use mine for flat water racing now with the small weedless rudder, I'm just an average paddler but its the fastest of my boats in these conditions.

Uno Max with a small 5" fin would be ideal. There may be a previous winner of the ski class who just ordered this exact combo ;)

Got to agree with Stew on the Uno, although if you can pick up the older Uno (pre uno max) I reckon thats an even better flat water ski, they run so well on the flat.

Always looking for the next boat :)

The DD3 Albatross has the runs on the board for the Hawkesbury, winning the open ORS division for the last three years and holding the ORS record. All these had the flatwater rudder. A fair few place getters were also paddling DD3 Albatross's or Magnum's in last years Hawkesbury.

Not a mass produced ski, it is made to order using the finest composite materials and resins.Made in Australia by Qualified shipwright's who are competitive paddlers. A combination of speed, comfort and stability make the DD3 albatross the most viable option.

Coaching sessions are also part of the package with all DD3 skis.
