20 Beaches

20 Beaches was last weekend - the biggest ski race on the east coast of Australia - and witnessed a very classy act by Tim Jacobs. I only know the bare details, but while at the sharp end of the race TJ came upon a paddler in distress. He stopped, calmed the paddler, lit her flare and assisted until a safety boat arrived. TJ still managed to finsih as the fourth single over the line, only 20 seconds off the winner, Jeremy Cotter. That's awesome and deserves recognition.

Good deed generates attention for the right reason

The race organisers compensated TJ for the time lost by making him joint winner with Jeremy Cotter who arrived at the beach first.

Good on TJ for stopping - but of course any time you see a paddler in distress you should offer assistance.
