Surfski Listings - how to rate?

We just created a listing/user reviews section for surfski schools - so far we have 37 schools/training camps, etc loaded from around the world.

I've been working for a while now to create a similar listings section for surfskis. We'll list the following information for Spec skis and Ocean skis as different categories:

Manufacturer
  • Name
  • Address
  • Country
  • City
  • Website
  • Facebook
  • Email
  • Phone

Surfski
  • Model Name
  • Length
  • Width

User Ratings
  • Quality of Manufacture
  • Flat water performance
  • Rough water performance
  • Downwind performance
  • Stability
  • Comfort
  • Ease of remounting
  • Value for money

Any comments/suggestions?

Rob

Good idea rob. I like it.

I might consider breaking 'stability' into Primary stability and Secondary stability, since the feel of a boat can vary quite a bit depending on hull shape and where the stability kicks in.

Another useful one may be, "average width of boat I paddle" or "skill level of reviewer" so we can get an idea of where the reviewer is coming from. A K1 paddler may think a V12 is quite stable. Most of us don't though :) I think it may be useful to know if the reviewer thinks 16" or 22" beam is 'normal' to them.

Good changes on the site in general

Cheers,
Marcus

Great idea Rob.

Perhaps you could include direct links from each page to reviews for that model (but I'm sure you already thought of that!).

Keep up the good work!

Great idea.

I would add "upwind performance" and "maneuverability" and get rid of "value."

I would still like to see an industry standard measurement for surfski volume. A common measurement for surfboards now.

As for weight I'd like to see actual measured weight for each layup. Some manufactures skis can weigh significantly different than advertised weight

You could put what weight range the ski is spec'd out for. I know this is a pipe dream but I really wish manufacturers would put volumes on their skis as it says a lot more than a weight range.
