Training programs

Can anyone recommend a good overall training program?
Something that covers work on endurance as well as speed?
I see the Mocke programs are goal orientated (a good thing!), but am wondering if there isn't a program out there that caters for general conditioning?
Something to use to increase my overall paddling performance and not necessarily to train for a specific race.
Or could you just 'tweak' a Mocke program to achieve this?

I'm on week 7 of a 12 week Mocke program. It has pushed me further/faster/longer than I would ever have gone on my own.Dawid's coments have also been very helpful although I've tried not to bug him too much. The programme is pretty self-explanatory anyway. I can see myself repeating it every year as a build-up to the racing season. It is very customisable but like anything you get out what you put in. If you drop too many sessions you won't see the gains. At the end of the day any kind of plan is much better than no plan at all.

Hi cold water,
Buy the 'surfski with the pros' book by Dawid Mocke. He offers a training program with speed/endurance and other sessions.

He shows 6 basic sessions as well as quite a few alternatives to to mix it up. An example of a session would be:

Paddle with focus on speed/endurance:

10 min warmup

4 x minutes at 70% focusing on technique

ICF also have quite a nice and complete (flat water) program including a detailed plan for 6 months. Lots of ideas for intervals and longer sessions as well as weights & X-training.

You can always check out Clint Robinson's programs. www.clintrobinson.com.au/
These may be a little too specific for your needs.
