Replacement recommendation for floppy Epic foot strap

Does anyone have a recommendation for modification or replacement of the Epic footstrap? I've been paddling the V10 for several years and sport before that. The problem I have with the stock strap is that it's a pain to get feet under it with booties on because it flops around and lays against the footboard making it hard to get feet under. This is mainly a problem when remounting in rough conditions.

We've been using the "Timbuk2 Messenger Bag Strap Pad", replacing the Epic neoprene cover. Stiffens up the strap so you can easily slide your feet under without collapsing the strap...especially after remount Not cheap, but worked very well for us on our Epics.
