Surfski rack problem

I’m trying to mount my surfski to my vehicle while pulling a small camping trailer. Currently the length of my surfski is too long to be mounted on the roof when the trailer is connected to my vehicle because the tail of the ski comes in contact with the trailer.
Has anyone found a rack solution that will solve this problem? I was thinking about possibly purchasing one of these Vbar racks to extend the mounting position forward but I’m not sure it’s the best solution.

The other option I’ve contemplated is possibly mounting the ski backwards to reduce the length of the ski that is protruding over the rear of the vehicle. Has anyone had success doing this?

If you mount it backwards be sure to secure the rudder to prevent it from flopping around and causing damage.
Does it make sense to mount it on the trailer?

Thanks for the response. I was actually thinking about removing the rudder while traveling, if I went with this configuration.

I also thought about mounting to the trailer but the shape of the trailer (tear drop) prevents me from securely mounting anything to its roof.

Thanks sAsLEX. I may look into trying that. I have a Volvo XC90 Sport Utility Vehicle. It's similar to the one in your picture. Just a little longer.
