Optimum length for a leg leash

Assuming that this is attached to the hull by the footplate.

Any ideas of the optimum length?
Presumably based on height?

Ideally the leash should be attached to the foot strap. The types available and ones I consider good are the coiled up " body board" leashes. The only thing is that they are too short. If you fall out of the boat the length of the leash must be long enough to not tip the boat when trying to get in. In order to over come this I connect a 600 mm loop of shock cord to the end of the leash . It is this that I attach to the footstrap. Works perfectly. Experiment with the length.
