I know I've raised the dead as this thread is an oldie but its exactly the same question. However, I am 6'3".
i have just bought my first ocean ski (red7 surf 70) and hope to do some recreational racing although i've never raced before.
I've used the wizard and I've been reccomended a 218 length mid wing. However, the bloke that I bought the ski off who is a seasoned racer and a bit taller than me, says that a 214 would be the max length that I would need.
I'm confused. can anybody shed some more light on the best length for a 6'3" racreational paddler looking to have a crack at some 14k races.
Cheers

I suppose an adjustable split shaft would solve the problem but am a bit skint after buying the boat.
