Refinishing clearcoat

I'm looking for tips on refinishing clear coated ski, older V10. Have tested some small areas on the boat but so far haven't been happy with the results. Have tried epoxy, epoxy thinned with MEK, and marine varnish. The varnish looks the best but feels somewhat soft and sticky so I'm worried it might be a relatively slow finish. Any suggestions? While probably the easiest solution would be to just paint it I was hoping to preserve the cool clear coat look.

Hi,
A polly-urathane varnish sprayed on will bond very well if it is keyed well, ie waterpapered well. It does go hard and is very glossy and is also quite UV stable. I repaired my Epic and clear coated it 3 years ago with the urathane varnish and it looks better than the rest of the ski, so quess what I have to do?
Regards,
Wally
