Slackboard to Improve Balance

Going from a Fenn XT to Nelo 560 was a shocker. It was hard to balance even in tiny ripples on the lake. I don't have time to go surfski as much as I need to get good at balance.

So I tried Slackboard. Bought a Gibbon one. I balance at home 10-15 minutes a day. Within 2 months, I was able to take the surfski to the ocean and even caught the wake behind a boat for a little. After the ski broached, I was still able to stay upright.
I think the slackboard really sharpen my age old dull balance.

Anyone do any pre balance training on land. Or you just learn on the job in the boat.

Another specific balance training is to sit on a yoga ball (less air makes it harder) with feet on a football and make paddle strokes with a paddle/paddle shaft/"broom stick". good training when working towards more skinny surfskis
You may have to start with feet on the floor

Got to try to yoga ball again.
I didn't have the football when I did it, and it was too easy to balance.
I can see a football would make it harder.

I bought the same slack board to improve balance Nordic skiing. It’s pretty obvious how applicable is to that sport. I didn’t think that it would help with paddling but based on your post, I’m going to try using it. Thanks!

I have a wobble cushion. Can sit on it on my office chair, stand on it and do exercises (double and single leg squats). sit on it on the floor, lift both legs up.

Cheap and very good for core muscles
