Emergency call from iPhone

This is a feature of iPhones that I heard about recently and might be useful to paddlers in an emergency.

If you press the lock button (on the right side of the phone, not the home button) five times in rapid succession an iPhone will directly call the local emergency number (000 in Australia).

The advantage of this is that it is a physical key rather than the touch screen so it will work if the phone is wet, cold, with gloves or in a bag.

Test this first before an emergency as you can cancel the call before it goes through. Works on my 6 plus and 8.

Certainly can give a paddler in distress some options if they are mobile range.

That's an interesting function. I guess those of us with Android phones will die a slow death. Oh well, I guess we deserve it for promoting a Google product

Thanks Brett! I just tested the US version and it works too! Great tip because trying to use the phone with wet hands is a total bust.
