A couple of the hobart based boys are organising a regular Friday evening paddle over the Summer months. The aim is to get all the paddlers from the surrounding area together for a social paddle and a bit of fun.
Course:
The paddle will start and finish at Bellerive Beach(behind the cricket ground). At 6pm we will depart from Bellerive and head east as a group to Howrah and then South down the Derwent River in the shelter of Rokeby Hills to the entrance of Ralph's Bay. This is the turn around point, from here it's every man/woman for themselves as we utilise the seabreeze and race downwind 7km back to Bellerive. Total distance is 15km.
The return paddle will be for bragging rights only but will give paddlers the opportunity to catch some runs and see how they are fairing compared to their peers.
There are BBQ's at the beach and taps so you can rinse your boat and gear. It would also be a good opportunity for ski distributors to bring their latest offerings along for the punters to try.
It's all aimed at being very informal and bringing the many groups that paddle around the place together, who know's maybe we could organise a few downwind races for after Chrissy.
I can be contacted on 0439991490 if you would like more information.
