Dislocated finger yesterday and find out I actually fractured it today.

Going to see specialist on Wednesday.

Anybody face a similar issue and have any tips?

Anything specific to paddling I should ask the specialist in terms of recovery/healing?

Ugh, three weeks to races begin in earnest and this happens...

Thanks!

Finger dislocations are not the benign things we sometimes take them as. The finger joints are deceptively complex. In able to dislocate the ligaments that hold the bones together must have sustained some damage. Sometimes they pull away with a piece of attached bone. If that piece is large enough surgery may be necessary. Seeing a hand surgeon to sort out the injury and manage therapy is really important to minimize long term problems.

This guy is in Australia and is considered the guru when it comes to exercise and hand/arm related injuries.

He will also do an online thing.

He is a rock climber/triathlete himself and understands the athletic body and our wish to continue training during injury if possible.

Seeing a hand surgeon tomorrow. Not even sure what type of fracture it is yet. From what I have read, it is something to get it right once/the first time, lest it be an annoyance for the rest of my life.

Thanks for the feedback and link...
