How is it best to prepare a surf ski for land shipment by trailer? Thanks for any help.

by trailer do you mean inside a pantechnicon (sp?) or on a purpose built trailer with racks to tie the kayak onto?

Sonotube is used by at least one US company and looks a good alternative to crating. You can use rope as three point suspension both ends and plywood end caps on the tube. You may get away with lots of bubble wrap and top loading, That is chancy though. Remove the rudder before packing.

Yes, I mean shipping from my home on a trailer with racks for kayaks.

I received a sea kayak delivered by road courier wrapped in bubble wrap. Plenty of dings. I have been advised to use lots of cardboard in the future.
