Shipping surf skis? was created by ptomblin
So if you buy or sell a ski in another state, how do you get it shipped? And how much does it cost approximately?

I'm primarily interested in US answers, but also interested in possibly shipping between Canada and the US.

This is the guy you want to contact:

Steve Skinner - owner
KAS Transport
33 Crest Ave.

Cost typically run $200 for shipping across a few states to $500 for CA to the Midwest. I've used them several times and they're great - except you need to be a bit "flexible" on shipping times. They tend to run when they get a full shipment of boats, so you may wait a couple of months to get one delivered to you (but they usually pick up fairly quickly). Great people to deal with, and they're well insured. Jude at Huki told me KAS is the only shipper he'll use.

Here's the boat I sent. A 22 foot cedar strip outrigger I made and sent to California

.
I used a cardboard tube used for concrete, a "sona tube" I think it's called.
Pretty sure it was 18" or 20" diameter.

Price? I paid about $440 from Vancouver to Cali.

Steve Skinner is my choice as well. Boats don't get banged up and they give personal attention to this kind of business which is their specialty. They treated me well recently.
