Juat wondering what other paddlers do for hats when looking for a bit more protection than your standard running cap? I have a salomon cap with a flap that cover the neck but it doesn't cover my ears and tends to blow around a lot. Most of my sessions are early morning so UV isn't a big issue; however some days I'm out late morning and would like some extra protection.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Chris

I hate the caps with the flaps and when its hot and sunny I just use a Vodafone Warriors Steve Price bucket hat.

Surf shops have some good options. I added a layer of neoprene to the
ear flaps (chin strap) on one of my hats to help slow down the progression of "Surfers' Ear". Had my left ear drilled twice now and right ear is 65% closed since being drilled in 1985. The sun isn't your only enemy.
I wear the "FCS wet bucket with chin strap" available at amazon around $20.00 usd.

Have been doing some searching and found the "Sunday Afternoons offshore water hat". It gets good reviews and maybe worth trying. similar shape to a bucket hat but has an adjustable brim which doesn't look like it would blow up or down in the wind. Here is the link if anyone is interested.

Ditto on the skin cancer and having a drill bit inserted in your outer ear canals to clear out bone spurs is no fun either!

I'm a fan of the ProtecSun Surfcap. I've used one for years. Not high fashion, but protects your ears and face and never falls off. The surf hat is another alternative.
