Kanaka Ikaika is taking back the original Molokai to Oahu race. As a surfski race since 1976, the Kanaka Ikaika Molokai World Championship will continue to be the world's premier Surfski race, however, as per KIRA's creed it will allow all paddle crafts to participate. Does this mean there will be one or two races for surf ski's in May 2014 - will this replace the great race organised by Shelly / Sue in 2013?
Would be neat if different craft all raced together.

From my understanding, the race reverts back to what it was a few years ago before the 2 disciplines split, with oc1 and ski combined start same time. The advantage of combining is it reintroduces more Hawaiian participation on the OC side of things as few people paddle ski n Hawaii, this should attract more local sponsorship and support to ensure the race survives.

sounds positive - given the difficulty organising these events it may ensure the future of the ski race I imagine.
