Ski Comparison - Epic , Fenn, Vajda

Not often we get the chance to see a rack of similar skis all lined up together and to have the time to discuss merits and differences of each. Currently about 50 paddlers take part in a 12km time trial on the tidal flatwater Lane Cove River, part of Sydney Harbour, on a Wednesday evening. (www.lcrk.org.au) Originally formed as a kayaking group some 15 yrs ago, there are now more and more skis taking part. We recently had a chance to rack up a few similar skis - just to note some subtle or signifiant differences and to discuss features, layups, weights etc. See attached photos of Epic V10L, Epic V12, Epic (new) V10, Vajda Hawx, Fenn Elite Glide and probably the second of the previous generation of Epic V10s into Australia (in no particular order). We lined up the bows and took photos from several angles for ease of comparison. Just a good indication of respective seat locations, buckets, humps, footplates and steering gear etc. Great to see so many brand new skis on the water, within weeks of some of them being released and available here.
Just added out of interest for thoise who may wish to compare such skis which happened to turn up on the day. These guys are all doing 12km in 55 - 65 mins.

Current: Carbonology Vault, Carbonology Boost LV, Vajda Spirit K1
Previously: Fenn Swordfish, Sladecraft Sonic, Older K1, Elliott Vindicator, Elliott Marauder,

Thanks for sharing, always surprises me the variations in ski's, especially when you put a big volume ski like the V12 next to a low volume ski like the Glide or a real small ski like the Carbonology Atom.

One things for sure, flatwater marathon speed is blood hard to compare amongst all these top end ski's.

Any of you guys coming over to Perth for the National Marathon Champs at Easter. We have our State champs this weekend. You can tell your 55 minute 12km paddlers (13.1km/hr  ) to stay at home thanks ;)

Always looking for the next boat :)

Interesting comparison, thanks. But no substitute for getting in and paddling them.
