Shard Removal.. was created by hamishglen
So... I’ve recently had a repair (don’t ask..) done to my Epic V8 by Steve from Canoe Innovations, but i now have some solid epoxy/fibreglassy junk clanging about in the hull.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could get this out?

The only way in or out is obviously through the bung hole – but wondering if anyone has some awesome tips for getting the junk to the right area and then I assume tweezering it out?

Or should I just not worry about it?

Every time I hear the junk move inside the hull reminds of when my boat went 'CRUUUUUUUNCH'..

Put a couple of litres of water in there, slosh it around and lift the ski to get the water and the junk into the front of the boat, tip it over upside down, slosh it around then lift the front of the boat so the water comes out the bung hole and hopefully the junk with it. Will take a few days in the sun to dry out but at this time of year in the south shouldn't be a problem.

Nice one! Learn something new every day.

Washing a ski out with soapy water will only help getting rid of the salty water as well.

always good to rinse the inside of your ski (as suggested) if you get saltwater in there. Saltwater takes forever to dry and will leave salt crystals

... and I was told the salt damages the wooden stringers inside the boat too...

No luck I’m afraid...

The water goes in and comes out easily enough, but unfortunately doesn’t bring the junk out with it.

After shining a torch through the bung hole (words I never envisaged writing) I can see a decent amount of some hard foam like stuff, which is stopping the junk from getting anywhere near the hole.

Tweezering ‘aint gonna work, looks like I’m stuck with the rattle.

Have you tried a vacuum cleaner with a smaller pipe duct taped on to the end?

ALARM BELL RINGING !
Beware with the vacuum cleaner. A friend of mine used a vacuum cleaner for the exact same purpose, but he didn't conect a small tube, he just put the vacuum cleaner tube near the bung hole and.... got stuck. Then... the vacuum cleaner sucked so much air out of the ski that he cracked the seams.
