The world knows there’s only really one place to go for surfski news, which is the reason you’re on this site! But there’s a new kid on the block we’d like to introduce you to – our younger sister Paddle365.com .

In South Africa, river racing dominates the umbrella sport of ‘paddling’ with more than four times the numbers compared to surfski. Races like the Dusi Canoe Marathon, Fish River Marathon and Berg River Marathon have become world famous for their uniqueness, and are iconic national events.

If you watched the recent Olympic Games you would have seen the popularity of the canoe/kayak events of flatwater sprinting and slalom, which both have huge international focus every year. Marathon racing too has a massive following, particularly in Europe.

Throw in the lesser-developed disciplines of wild water, freestyle kayak and canoe polo and its plain to see that paddling is diverse enough to grab the interest of anyone who’s ever seen a paddle.

Considering all this, surfski.info has decided to team up with the SA Paddler magazine to service the wider paddling world through a one-stop paddling website where you’ll be able to get all the latest news, photos and competitions from all the different paddling disciplines. With pieces of information littered all over the net, we’re going to try and collect all the important bits and present them in an easy-to-access way, 365 days a year.

At the moment the site’s focus is on the South African paddling scene but hopefully as it grows we’ll be able to include major news from all over the world. All the surfski news straight from SSI is easily accessible on the bottom right hand side, and paddle365 will simply cover all the rest. You’ll see the site has a similar layout to SSI and works in much the same way; it’s just a bit more basic at the moment. And just like SSI, we’d like to hear what you think as we progress so if you’ve got some news, photos or feedback we want to hear from you. Register on the site to comment or simply drop an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we’ll listen.

We’re looking forward to picking up the pull – Paddle365.com
