With the size of the foil I imagine beach starts and launches are going to be quite challenging.

Here as an supplement to the first post some examples of foiling sailboats:

- The Moth

- America's Cup Catamarans

- Hydroptere

- IMOCA 60 (Vendee Globe)

- Quant 23

Wouldn't the Quant look like the most accessible way to get a ski on wings?!

By the way, there seem to have been attempts with kayaks, too, but somehow there is no newer information:

- Flyak

Yeah, I'm struggling to think of anywhere I could launch it where I paddle if it were fixed.

Perhaps it is able to be retracted?

Some way of collapsing/removing it for transport?

Do you paddle out with it not attached and then fit it?

So many questions around this?
Always looking for the next boat :)

Have been waiting for somebody to try this on a surfski!

Some questions do arise:

1. What length paddle would be used? 300cm?

2. There are some safety concerns also that need to be considered. Beach break zone, etc. what happens if you run out of swell, etc and actually need to paddle without foiling.

I personally think it can only feasibly be used in a very limited number of scenarios. Ideally with a support boat.

Very curious to see how this concept develops.I wish Revo luck getting this implemented.

Very cool if this performs as advertised, but as others have said, what size paddle do you use? how do you get back to the beach? intentionally dump in 4' of water? How much cost does this add? (to an already expensive sport).

I wish the best for Revo. Hopefully this is a game changer that allows downwinds averaging 20kts! That said, ill take the 'didnt happen without video' stance until (video) proof is available :)

Well... I check in with them every now and then, but they haven't made much progress since last year. I think it's possibly that it's more difficult than they thought and also that commercial priorities (like fulfilling orders) keep getting in the way.

Watching videos of downwind SUP foiling, maintaining flight seems to require very active fore-aft trim, vertical pumping with the legs, and rail-pressure to turn. Trying to do it from a sitting position might just not work. The length of a surfski might also be counterproductive once foiling. Something with a stubby whitewater kayak design might foil better.

A kite-powered surfski foil might be more practical. I've seen videos of kite-foilers sitting on their boards and looking relatively relaxed while foiling along.

We have both SUP and kite foilers here. Absolutely amazing to watch. They just defy gravity and leave no wake, surreal. Watched a kite foiler go miles upwind and swell like there was no resistance. Kite surfing is huge here with our consistent winds and swell. An SUP foiler on a wave looks like CG animation. Mind blowing. The guys I've seen on SUP's are smooth as silk riding waves. Haven't witnessed any pumping.

I still keep dreaming , but compared with SUP and kite foiling, development seems pretty slow in surfskis:
