The Surfski info site has become very slow over the last few months (even slower then before the upgrade). Maybe time to change/move hosts??

Agreed - I LOVE the content on this site, but it is frustratingly slow - the slowest I've ever used.

Positive outcome: your comments gave me the kick up the arse to get off the said arse and seek professional help...

Not kidding - and I finally found some real Joomla professionals who sound as though they know what they're talking about.

And the great thing is, they've identified a bunch of things that we can improve...

So, don't hold your breath, but I think we're on a road to a snappier, more usable site...

Stand by... And if things stop working temporarily at times over the next week, it's because we're switching components on and off in an effort to diagnose which one(s) is/are slowing the system down.

Other factors affect download speed and to be fair about it we have to look at actual speed, connectivity and not what they say, of our ISP. Another thing is fluctuating bandwidth of cable/ADSL providers.
Finally, periodic maintenance of PC definitely speeds things up.
All that done here-now waiting for Rob and his speed merchants.

All that said, you have to be congratulated for the best and really only site that supports us world wide.

Brilliant... the speed will only make it better.

Keep on doing what you are doing, your most of our lifeline to anything to do with our great sport.

Off for a bash now - only 15km and no swell but it still looks to good not to roll the arms over for a couple of hours ( and you never know back a car at the other end already )

Getting to the point I only check the forum once a week, used to check daily. Be interested to know how much the traffic has slowed in the past month or so.
